Viable Tumblr Alternatives - Reviewed

So in one week, 200,000 of us will not longer be welcomed here. What did I do last weekend to try and mitigate the loss of my Tumblr?

1) Tried downloading all 26 gig of me +72,000 posts here on Tumblr using the useless Tumblr Backup utility. It has not worked, yet, after 5 days.

2) Bought a Tumblr Ripper from the Apple iStore for $4 from Gummybear developer that extracted all of my photos, but none of the text, tags, comments, titles, or dates. It took 4 hours to process the 26 gigs.

3) Signed up for a Wordpress account, with the same name as here. Sadly, they accept only the first 3 gig. After that, they want you to pay by the month. Also, their terms of service are not unlike Tumblrs were in 2016 and 2017… so it’s probably just a matter of time before they go to NO ADULT Content either.

4) Signed up for a BDSMlr account with the same name as here. Sadly, BDSMlr’s servers are vastly under-capacity and a SINGLE Reblog takes at east 2 minutes to load on my modern & capable Mac, where it took less than 2 seconds to load on Tumblr. Scrolling through a list of blogs takes 5 or 10 minutes before the bottom of the screen Begins to refresh. There’s no way to easily search users. It’s glacially slow, to the point of being unusable.

5) Signed up with Pillowfort to receive emails from them when their beta site is ready to go live, and asked for an invite to their beta site. We’ll see how long it takes the deluged admins there to respond.

6) Tried to get a Cumblr account, but they’ve not built the website yet.

7) Signed up for Sharesome.com with the same name as here. Sharesome also has no good way to chat, and it runs slowly, though not as excruciatingly slowly as BDSMlr. It appears to be some kind of popularity contest with points and crap, which frankly, I do care to waste any time with such a dumb game. There is no “race” here, and no one is trying to “win” or “get the most followers”. Post good content, and thousands of followers will come; that’s worked for me with nearly 7000 followers before the Tumblr purge started.

If anyone has found a VIABLE Tumblr alternative (before Dec 17th) that welcomes adult content, is not slower than molasses, please let me know. My frustration level is at an unpleasant high, but I’m too stubborn to simply “give up”.

Update: ½ a million users on MeWe… so I’ll look into that platform this week.
